Spent a good day at the London Boat Show. Useful discussion with Garmin on the new 750s chart plotter. A potential new toy for the boat.

Successful completion of the Arc after 26 days and over 3,200 nautical miles of sailing across the Atlantic. It was an excellent adventure full of exhilarating challenges.

A course which hones in on passage planning and pilotage to allow the driver to complete short coastal journeys by day.

Course Details

Course type:	POWERBOAT (Planning)
Suggested minimum pre-course experience:	RYA At level two standard and is recommended that the candidate holds a VHF certificate
Assumed knowledge:	Minimum age 16.
Course content:	Practically we cover: Boat Preparation for a short coastal passage Boat handling in adverse conditions Awareness of wind and tide Pilotage Passages incorporating the theory Man over board techniques The theory we cover is as follows: Navigation (taking bearings, bearing & distance, charts & symbols, use of almanacs, lat & long, and principals of GPS) sources of forecast information & interpretation of them Use of plotting instruments Buoyage Tides IRPCS Waypoint navigation Emergency situations.
Ability after course:	Conducting a small coastal passage during the day
Minimum duration:	Two days.
