Spent a good day at the London Boat Show. Useful discussion with Garmin on the new 750s chart plotter. A potential new toy for the boat.

Successful completion of the Arc after 26 days and over 3,200 nautical miles of sailing across the Atlantic. It was an excellent adventure full of exhilarating challenges.

Powerboat Courses
Level 1 (1 Day)
Although it is not a pre-requisite of the level 2 course, the level 1 is the ideal entry and stepping stone. Offering a basic introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats as a competent crew, it is idyllic for children and adults alike wishing to complete a one day course. click here to learn more...
Level 2 (2 Days)
Level 2 is a popular course designed by the RYA, it is very accommodating to all; it attracts complete beginners, those who hold the level one and also people who have experience but wish to further their knowledge and gain RYA recognised qualifications. It is comparable to a UK full driving licence, some insurance companies only accept quotes with this endorsement and others offer incredibly cheaper premiums. With the RYA level 2 certificate it is possible to hire boats with this ticket being worldwide acknowledged. click here to learn more...
ICC – International Certificate of Competency
Furthering the Level 2 coastal planning award you can apply for an ICC which allows you to boat abroad either in your own power boat or in a hire boat providing it is less than 10m long. For more information see the ICC page. click here to learn more...
Intermediate (2 Days)
For those who are competent to the level 2 standard with a coastal endorsement, this course is conducted on a planning boat and allows the candidate to learn more about coastal passage by day, honing in on navigation and pilotage. click here to learn more...
Advanced (2 Days)
This is an exciting sophisticated course which teaches boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation to a higher level which challenges and improves the driver in adverse conditions during day and night. Safety Boat (2 Days)
This course is highly thought of amongst individuals involved in working with sailing dinghies, kayaks and windsurfing. It teaches the skills required to escort and rescue craft from the powerboat. Pre-requisites are RYA Level 2 Certificate and basic knowledge of the crafts listed above; though if this is a little thin on the ground do not worry how the crafts work becomes more evident during the course. click here to learn more...
