Spent a good day at the London Boat Show. Useful discussion with Garmin on the new 750s chart plotter. A potential new toy for the boat.

14th December 2010

Successful completion of the Arc after 26 days and over 3,200 nautical miles of sailing across the Atlantic. It was an excellent adventure full of exhilarating challenges.

Course Details

Course type:	POWERBOAT (Planning)
Suggested minimum pre-course experience:	Should be competent to the standard of the intermediate Powerboat certificate with knowledge of navigation and chart work to the level of Day Skipper Shore based certificate.
Assumed knowledge:	Must hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operator’s certificate. Minimum age 17
Course content:	Practically we cover • Preparation for sea • Boat handling • Passage making and responsibility as skipper • Pilotage • Adverse weather conditions • Rules of the road • Use of engines • Emergency situations • Night passage Also a great deal of shore based aspects are covered such as: • Elements of day skipper theory
Ability after course:	To drive a planning power boat safely by day and night in tidal coastal waters. This will enable the candidate to do a 1 days assessment for commercial endorsement.
Minimum duration:	Two days.
